Since this is my first post I thought it might me a good idea to fill you in on what this blog is all about.
I love to travel, I always have. When I was a kid we traveled throughout California and the US. I have many happy memories of coming home from school to find my mom packing up our trailer so we could head out to parts unknown. We had Thanksgiving dinner in Morro Bay, hiked in Yosemite and swam in Lake Tahoe (which was really, really cold by the way).
As I got older I dreamed of backpacking through Europe (that was the thing to do back then) but my first trip “across the pond” didn’t occur until many years later when I went to Geneva with my husband to support a tradeshow. With that trip, I was hooked! We traveled all over Switzerland and then continued on to Paris and London. This first time I saw the Eifel Tower was a moment I will never forget. I still remember the sights, the sounds and the smells of that moment.
We traveled to Europe and around the US often after that, each time going to new and exciting destinations. We have traveled as far away as Bahrain and as close by as Florida. After every trip we went through “trip withdrawal” that could only be remedied by planning the next trip.
All of those trips were “pre-kid” trips and when we adopted our two kids from Bulgaria our travels became more interesting and more complicated but still amazing adventures that we now shared with our kids.
When you have small children, as I said, travel gets more complicated. From the amount of luggage you take to making sure your kids have a good time. Our first trip with the kids was to Disney World. My son was 4 and my daughter was 8. We didn’t realize that while we were looking forward to going to all the parks and riding all the rides, my kids wanted to know when we were going to the pool! Geeze, I thought, I could have taken them to the Holiday Inn and saved a ton of money, so the next trip we decided to do some thing we never thought we would do, go on a cruise! We took our first cruise, on the Disney Magic in 2001 and it was MAGICAL. My kids still talk about that cruise! What’s not to like? They had the pool, activities and the Disney characters. We had time to RELAX, go to the spa and spend time alone. We were now hooked on cruising. So far, we have been on fourteen cruises. Have a question about cruising? As us, we will probably have the answer.
We still travel on here in the U.S and “across the pond,” eagerly anticipating each trip. Will it be a day trip to Philly or a road trip through Europe? We love it all and we will write about it here. We will also post reviews on everything from destinations to photo gear and apps to make those photos pop. Oh yeah, you will find all kinds of photos and video from our trips. Coming soon, drone videos, so stay tuned.
Thanks for stopping by. We hope you share your adventures and tips with me as well!
